About

Kounterfeit Records is a small indie label based in North Carolina, USA, formed circa 2003. Mainly aimed at electronic pop,it served as the label home for the band Wedlock, Richmond, VA based singer Bryanna Rain, and most recently Celadon Candy.

Paul Allgood and Jason Bowden make up the Durham, NC based Celadon Candy. They first began collaborating together as bandmates in a previous incarnation of Allgood's band Wedlock in 2008. Before his departure, Bowden remixed two of Wedlock singles, "Still Unsatisfied," and "Reverend Charisma." After becoming dissatisfied with his revolving line -up, Allgood reconnected with Bowden. As a result, their 2010 debut entitled "cc:" was released October 5th on Kounterfeit records. The same work was released to CD in November.

Bryanna Rain is a vocalist based out of Richmond,VA. Her 2009-2010 debut, The Blameless EP,wasreleased on Kounterfeit Records. The last Wedlock line up consisting of Paul Allgood, Baxter Smith, and Lee Whitsel aided in both writing and production. Celadon Candy was also aided by her backing vocals for their EP. She's also the author of Don't Judge A Book By It's Cover. Even as a current art school attendee, she has plans for writing and releasing an eventual full-length studio effort.

Until its self-imposed hiatus in 2010, Wedlock was an electronic pop outfit primarily based out of Chapel Hill,NC. They were best known for combining new disco, digital funk, high energy live instrumentation, and outspoken lyrics. Through the duration of several singles, Eps, and two full length studio albums, the line up experienced several configurations all revolving around lead vocalist and songwriter Paul Allgood, who eventually went on to form Celadon Candy with previous bandmate Jason Bowden after Wedlock's Witnesses EP was issued in August.
